A Pioneer Football League occurs as college athletic conference which operates literally from coast to coast in the United States; it has member schools ranging from North Carolina and Florida in the east to California in the west. It participates in the NCAA's Division We-AA as a football-only conference. Unlike virtually all more Section I personally-AA conferences, a Pioneer League consists of institutions which see does'nt to award athletic scholarships ("grants-in-aid") to footballer; these institutions come occasionally (somewhat unofficially) known as "I-AAA" schools.
There are nine member schools, split into 2 divisions:
Northward Division

University of Dayton
Drake University
University of San Diego
Valparaiso University
To the south Division
Austin Peay State University*Davidson College
Jacksonville University
Morehead State University
In April 8, 2005, Austin Peay announced that it would be allowing a Pioneer Football League fallowing a 2005 year & giving to scholarship-granting competition in the Ohio Valley Conference, within which it competes in more sports.

Beginning in the 2001 season, a Pioneer League Championship was determined by a postseason game between the teams by having the better record from either every section.
